Steve Mueske
Every Blue Place
O bearded monk, first & last teacher
in this, the apocryphal hour,
is there anything more beautiful
than the coming storm? The stubble field,
//
waiting. The sky, smelling of bruises.
What’s next is already glinting with sun.
Even now, the wind, having come
from every cranny of the world, every blue
//
place water gathers, is leaning in
to listen to the conversation.
Its breath is the breath that moves
the seed, that calls the clouds.
Steve Mueske is a music producer and the author of two books of poetry, a chapbook, and The Animal Inside the Animal, a micro-chapbook recently published in The Oxidant Engine's Boxset Series #4. His poems have appeared in The Iowa Review, Water~Stone Review, Cream City Review, The Pinch Journal, The Normal School, Jet Fuel Review, and elsewhere. He lives in a beautiful loft in downtown Spartanburg with a rescue cat named Sheila.
