Mary Lou Buschi
They Set Off Again
Still, they know no better―
Quiet, she says, there is a nest
of thistle we must pass
and a shadow gliding over us―
What are we waiting for?
Lures slipping aimlessly into streams,
burrs stuck to white cotton dresses,
and the light, there is too much of it.
I’m tired, I need…
Keep moving―the wren pleas for us.
