Tanya Muzumdar

Until You, I Never Knew the Names of Spices

Skinny dipper, I immerse you
in Quivermint, Hula Cumin, Ember of Melon,

let loose a flotilla of Bengali Leaf for the sea. I stroke
your forehead with Bindi Seed,
slick Illa of Vain on the part of your hair,

slip Bangle of Galangal up your bicep.
For you, Masala Roja, Drifting Incense, Foliata. I float
you Maroon Jupiter.

You shimmy-dip and I whisper-swim with
Nebula, Holi Husk, Nude Mood Dust, Bed Balm.
