Lauren Yarnall
Message Taped Below a Park Bench
Call me lamprey, stone licker, boring
you like nail-bitten wood, but not so
artful. Call me sister
taxon—are we clandestine— I mean,
cladistics? I don’t want to scare you, but I am
shapeless and longing to curl into some word
you might say. My name is leech
or maybe jawless, or both.
Lauren Yarnall is a MFA candidate at University of Idaho, where she also serves as current Managing Editor of Fugue. She is from Ellicott City, Maryland and received her bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from Salisbury University. Her work has previously appeared in Harpur Palate, Sugar House Review, Permafrost Magazine, Puerto Del Sol, and elsewhere.
