Samantha Jean Rice is a student studying Creative Writing and Dance at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York. She is the recipient of the Manhattanville College Robert O’Clair Prize for Poetry, as well as the Scholastic Writing Award for a short length play.
Before studying poetry, she studied dance at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts in Hartford, CT as well as at the Hartt School. It wasn’t until college when she discovered a new found love for poetry.
She has written for Downtown Magazine, located in lower Manhattan, as a writer covering Arts and Culture related topics, as well as Her Campus, an online magazine covering college campuses nationwide.
She is currently working on a collection of poems for her Senior Portfolio called, The Moon is Painted with Fire, which she hopes to publish in the future. She resides in Connecticut.
